Upcoming Schedules:
Caving trip has been moved to to fall of 2011 and instead we will be going canoeing at Turkey Run on April 30th.
For the meeting on May 17th we will be going rock climbing
Basement Clean-Up is on June 4th
Summer Camp is June  12- 18. We will camp at Hickory Haven. 
Family Night is June 15th.

Notes:
Telluride Film Festival is on March 15. Scouts who were assigned to work should be there at 6:25. Everyone else should be there by 7:00.The Telluride Festival is located in Parkland College Theater.
Michigan Trip is July 10th-17th.

Completed Module 2 and 3 of Troop Leadership training.

February 15, 2011
 
Module 1 of Leadership Training was covered.
Patrick K will be doing his Eagle Scout Service project at Holy Cross on Saturday, 2/19/11, beginning at 10 A.M.  Scouts will be cleaning out the trophy case and dusting them. Call or email to let him know if you are able to help.

Recapped on how the Klondike went and how everybody felt about it.
MBS is on March 5th.
Went over MBS classes and merit badge homework.
Ski Trip- February 11th - 12th
Mr. Koerner went over some of the snow sports merit badge requirements.

 ASPL went over the meal plan for the Klondike Derby.

Mr. Walters talked to the new scouts about meal kits. He also talked about equipment and clothing you should bring to the Klondike Derby.

 

SPL took the scouts to look at 2 of the sleds we had in the basement. We all took a vote on which one to use on the Klondike   Derby.

 

Scouts came up with a meal plan for the Klondike Derby.

Troop shoot has been postponed to the weekend of 29-31 October. The plan remains the same with a simple date change.

31 Oct (Sun) - Break camp, return to Holy Cross

Troop visit the Fire station as part of the Fire Safety Badge
Scouts had advancement and badge review in preparation for Court of Honor on April 14th.
Camp fees and any wreath money need to be turned in
Scouts checked with Mr. Doyle to see if all of our records were up to date.
OA elections scheduled for April 21st- this has been changed to May 5th

Troop attended the Holy Cross Stations
Mr. Walters went over several upcoming events and advancement guidelines. Please review carefully.

Advancement Changes Effective January 1, 2010
New EDGE requirement included for rank advancement
Complete guidelines updated to Troop 9 website under advancement changes

Discussion of rank and merit badge completion

1.  Scout responsibility to keep documentation for rank advancement and merit badge completion

2.  Mr. Walters gave each scout his IPR (Individual Progress Report)- if you were not at the meeting, please have SCOUT contact Mr. Walters to receive copy.  Mr. Walters explained form.  If scout has question on form, please contact Mr. Walters.

a.  Scouts should keep binder with badge worksheets and documentation that currently working on.

b.  Scouts should keep badge cards once received in baseball plastic sleeves in binder

c.  Once a scout has completed a merit badge, the SCOUT must contact either Mr. Doyle or Mr. Walters for review of completed requirements.

d.  Required uniform with reviewing badge completion and rank advancement

       i.  Badge Completion Review- Class A shirt and boy scout pants (if available)
      ii.  Rank Advancement Conference/Board of Review- Class A shirt with neckerchief and slide.  Boy scouts pants may be worn if available

Summer Camp (June 13-19, 2010)

Troop 9 will go to Camp Drake June 13-19, 2010.  Mr. Walters talked about the dates and class selection.  Summer camp schedule on Troop 9 website.  Scouts need to print out schedule, put name on form, and select classes.  Form is due during April 7th meeting.  Each scout and adult must have a current physical (within 12 months) by summer camp.  Physical form on Troop 9 website.

Also, Sunday camp arrival day there will be a swim test.  Must be able to swim 100 yard to go on float trip.  For some scouts it may be recommended to practice prior to summer camp.

High Adventure (July 17-24, 2010)

This trip is to the Boundry Water. It is recommended for First Class Scouts and above.  there will be extra training prior to the trip to get attendees ready.


Upcoming Meeting Plans (April 7th)

This will be the last meeting to have completed merit badges approved and any scout conference or board of review prior to the April 14th Court of Honor.

We will also go to the Firehouse as part of the Fire Safety Merit Badge.

Items needed for upcoming meeting

- Fire Safety Worksheet if have not already earned this badge
- Scout Book
- Any documentation for partial merit badges for review
- Finalized Camp Schedule with name (if unsure what to take, bring form and ask at meeting)
- If scout has comflict to attend this meeting due to play practice, please have SCOUT contact Mr. Walters asap to schedule individual meeting.
- Remember to dress accordingly based on if you are reviewing badges or conference

We also need as many adults that are available to assist with badge review and conferences.
