Frequently Asked Questions

Time frame of MBS- Opening ceremony begins at 7:15am and concludes at 5pm

Cost of event-
Scouts $25; Adults taking classes $10 (price includes lunch)

Do adults need to register (and pay) if not attending adult classes or only volunteering?
No. Adults only need to register and pay if attending classes. Food available for purchase if not registered adult. All classroom volunteers attend for free and lunch is provided.

Can we bring extra scouts the day of MBS that were not registered?
No, this is a very popular event and classes fill. We are not able to do on-site registrations.

Our troop is from out of the area, are we able to spend Friday night at the facility?
Yes, we do offer an overnight for troops traveling more than an hour. There is a $2 fee per person and must pre-register for this option.

When do we pay for our registration? Once you complete the registration process you will receive a computer generated invoice.  Please mail the invoice and full payment no later than February 22nd to hold spot class spot.  All non-paid class spots will be released Friday, February 26th.

Please send all payments to:  (Please make check payable to: BSA Troop 9)
Pat Kearney
MBS Treasurer
513 S. Willis Avenue
Champaign, IL 61820

Can we just pay the day of the event?  No.  We ask that all payments be received no later than February 22nd.

How does the waitlist work?  The online registration program has a built in waitlist that allows a troop to register a scout for a class and be put on another class waitlist if full.  If a spot opens up then that scout would move from the waitlist to the active class list.  Once the scout moves to the active class from the waitlist he would no longer be in the first class he signed up for.  It is very important that you register a scout for an alternative class if he is on a waitlist.

For example:

Bill's first choice for the a.m. session is Aviation and his second choice is Citizenship in Nation. When registering, the scout leader sees that Aviation is full, but there is a spot in Citizenship in the Nation.

Recommended process:  Register for Citizenship in Nation and select waitlist for Aviation.

a.  If Aviation becomes available then Citizenship in Nation would be canceled and he would be enrolled in Aviation.

b.  If Aviation does not become available then he will be enrolled in Citizenship in the Nation.

What Not to Do:  Only waitlist for Aviation.

a.  If Aviation becomes available then he would be enrolled in Aviation.

b.  If Aviation DOES NOT become available then he has no class or limited options on February 26th when class schedules are finalized.

What if a registered scout or adult finds that they can not attend?  Any changes or cancellations may be made by the troop leader by going back into the online registration system by February 20th without penalty.  After February 20th, there will be no refunds for cancellation.  Please be courteous to other scouts by updating the cancellation on the website to allow other scouts the opportunity to use the unused class slot.

Can I change a scout's schedule the day of the event? The only type of change that may be made the day of the event is a scout substitution.  The change is in name only.  The substituting scout would need to keep the existing schedule.

When will class scheduled be finalized?  Class schedules will be finalized February 27-28.  All non-paid scouts will be released from classes on February 26th and waitlists will be finalized.  After this process has occurred no further cancellations or changes may be made.

Where do we park? PDF of Parking Map.  We recommend if you are bringing a bus to park at Central High School Parking #5.
